Deputy Minister's flight forced to turn back due to stormy weather

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad has shared a frightening ordeal where her plane heading to Kota Baru, Kelantan, was forced to turn back to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Airport in Subang after it failed to land three times due to the heavy rain and stormy weather.

In a post, the Deputy Women, Family, and Community Development Minister said that she was caught in the horrifying moment when her plane could not land at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

“A truly scary experience when our plane could not land in Kota Bharu three times,” she said in a post today (Dec 24).

“Our pilot informed us that we could not land due to extreme weather and heavy rain at that time,” she added.

As a result, the aircraft had to divert back to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor.

“Alhamdullilah (thankfully), thank you to the pilot for bringing us back home safely to Subang.

“Surely there are some lessons to be learned from this episode,” said the Noraini.

“So sorry to the people of Kelantan,” she said.

The deputy minister was supposed to attend a programme in Kelantan.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe-level continuous heavy rain warning for the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang (Jerantut and Kuantan) until Monday (Dec 25).
