Expectant mum remanded for allegedly soliciting commission from concert organiser

MELAKA: An expectant mum, who is also an assistant manager in a government agency, was remanded at the Magistrate’s Court here for allegedly soliciting RM18,000 commission from a concert organiser.

Magistrate Khairunnisak Hasni granted the four-day remand order that was applied by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency(MACC) on Tuesday (Jan 9).

The 37-year-old suspect, who is currently two months pregnant, was arrested by graft busters when she turned up at the state MACC office in Alai here at 4pm on Monday (Jan 8) to have her statement recorded.

She had allegedly solicited commission from the organiser of “Double Trouble 2 Search x Barbarik” that was held here on Aug 5.

The suspect had allegedly demanded the organiser to pay her between 10% to 20% commission to get approval for a grant from the Communications and Digital Ministry in order to finance the organising of the concert.

Melaka MACC director Mohd Shahril Che Saad said the suspect is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
