Undeterred by criticism, PKR's Pasir Gudang MP insists on speaking his mind

PASIR GUDANG: Despite criticism over his remarks, a PKR lawmaker here has insisted on speaking his mind, saying he is unperturbed at being ousted from the party.

Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim said he has nothing to lose and will not be silent when things are not right.

“I have no strength, no position. If I were to be ousted, the party would not lose anything, as they could just replace me with someone else.

“What choice do I have? I am already old. I cannot just agree and bow down.

“If I am to be sacked, then so be it. I will just change my clothes from being an MP to being a lawyer and go to court,” he said.

Hassan said this after attending a Chinese New Year celebration at the Kim Ying temple in Plentong on Saturday (Feb 10).

Hassan added that party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Prime Minister, is open and could accept criticism.

“PKR is a reformation party. It celebrates the freedom of speech, especially with Anwar as the president.

“I do not know how things will be when someone else is president, but Anwar is a person who respects and accepts criticism.

“I am not afraid to say all this because I trust Anwar. Even amid people criticising me, he is still in contact with me,” he said.
