Man goes missing after crocodile attack in Kalabakan

KOTA KINABALU: A man has gone missing after he was attacked by a crocodile in Sabah’s east coast Kalabakan district.

The man, identified as Asmadi Harun, was attacked while catching clams in a river near Kampung Mangga.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they were alerted to the incident at 4.35pm on Saturday (March 9).

“The 57-year-old man was with two family members when a crocodile attacked,” he said in a statement.

A team from the Tawau fire station was then deployed to the area located 89km away.

The spokesman added that the search and rescue operation will commence on Sunday (March 10).
