Endau rep recovering from accident

MERSING: Endau assemblyman Alwiyah Talib sustained injuries that required 19 stitches to her face after the vehicle she was travelling in crashed.

The accident took place at KM28 of Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing and was reported to the police around 5.30pm on Monday.

Her special officer Muhamad Amerul Muhamad said Alwiyah had attended several programmes in Johor Baru on Sunday and decided to stay in the city for the night.

“The next day, her younger sister, who earlier underwent surgery at Hospital Sultan Ismail, was discharged, so she decided to take her sibling back to Mersing.

“Her (Alwiyah’s) husband was driving when the incident happened. Following the crash, he alerted me and I reported it to the authorities,” Muhamad Amerul said.

He added that Alwiyah was rushed to Hospital Mersing for treatment.

“She is recuperating after having received 13 stitches to her mouth and six stitches to her chin.

“The doctor also issued her a nine-day medical certificate from April 1-9 so she is unable to fulfil all her scheduled appointments and engagements during this period.

“She conveys her apologies for the inconvenience and hope the programmes will go on smoothly as planned,” he added.

Mersing OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said Alwiyah and six other family members were traveling in a multi-purpose vehicle from Johor Baru to Mersing when the accident happened.
