Johor cops staying vigilant against extremism and deviant teachings

JOHOR BARU: The police are keeping an eye on religious extremism and radical groups to ensure the people’s safety, says Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar.

He said the state’s Special Branch prioritised combating extremism and deviant teachings.

“A person’s personality and ideology cannot be seen with the naked eye.

“As such, information from close family members and neighbours about such activities is vital for early intervention,” he said when addressing the monthly police assembly at state police headquarters here on Monday (May 27).

He added that this was to ensure public safety and to keep the peace.
